Kim Kardashian: Vixen or Victim?

Kim KardashianIf you haven’t already heard, this past week Kim Kardashian has been the topic of discussion on the Internet because of her nude photos and her balancing act with a champagne glass.

Sad, but true.

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have been married less than a year, but her actions don’t reflect that of a happily married woman.

It caused me to ask a lot of questions:

  • What did Kanye say about her posing nude for the world to see?
  • What would make a married woman pose nude and cause so much stir on the Internet?
  • Did Kanye West and Kim Kardashian have an argument?
  • Did he hurt her feelings?
  • Did they discuss her decision to pose nude?
  • Did he even care?

Considering these questions caused me to come to this conclusion: Kim Kardashian is more than just a woman with a body. She’s a real person with feelings and emotions–just like you and me.

So instead of looking at Kim as a vixen or a “ho”, we should consider this married woman’s emotions.

Maybe she’s a victim of loneliness in her marriage. Maybe she doesn’t feel validated by Kanye. Or she could feel distant from him. Maybe he hurt her feelings and she craved attention in other places.

Have you ever been there? I have.

Yes, it is possible to feel lonely in your marriage. When you feel disconnected from your husband for whatever reason, it seems like your husband is not even in the house, even when he’s laying right next to you.

This loneliness could have driven Kim to seek the attention and validation of other men and the media.

Loneliness can drive people to do some strange things.

Oftentimes when I have felt lonely in my marriage, I’ve allowed my mind to wander to places they shouldn’t go. And if it had not been for the grace and mercy of God, my body could have easily followed my mind on many occasions.

While I have confessed these feelings to my husband, I still have to stay focused, watch my thoughts, and draw from God’s grace on a daily basis to keep my mind from wandering.

For this reason, I can’t really say much about Kim Kardashian’s “celebrity” decision to pose nude because it could have been a result of her human emotion of loneliness.

We really don’t know why Kim chose to do what she did. Nor do we know how stable her marriage is to Kanye West. And it’s really none of our business.

But the best thing we can do as believers is to keep Kim Kardashian and Kanye West in prayer. Because just as easily as Kim has done something that is shameful in the eyes of many, if we don’t stay connected to God, any one of us could be next…

Share your thoughts? Is Kim Kardashian a vixen or a victim and why?

A Fun Summer Water Activity for Kids — Even If They Don’t Like Swimming!

Kids Enjoy Playing at the KidZone at the Peninsula Town Center

Kids Enjoy Playing at the KidZone at the Peninsula Town Center

As I shared previously, summertime can bring a lot of stress when the kids are out of school and you don’t have a daily agenda them. As a result this can affect your attitude and how you interact with your husband.

A lot of kids love the water, but in some ways you may fear your kids will play in the water and drown. This is extreme, but the CDC reports that about 10 people die from an unintentional drowning daily with 20% of those being children ages, 14 and younger.

With this in mind, swimming may not be an option for some kids. Maybe your kids are extremely fearful because they can’t swim or they’re not ready to swim yet.

Maybe you don’t feel like going to the beaches in Hampton, Virginia Beach, or wherever you live.

For instance, I enjoy going to the beach, but I don’t enjoy going without my husband because I like to have a second pair of eyes watching when my kids are playing in the water.

You may be similar to me when it comes to going to the beach.

One of your reasons may be:

  • “I don’t want to walk in the sand.”
  • “I don’t want to clean up after my kids play in the sand.”
  • “I don’t feel like dealing with the crowds at the beach.”

I have found a solution that works for my family and I hope it will be a safe alternative to the beach.

Baci'sIn Hampton, we have the Peninsula Town Center. It has an area called the Kidzone. They have a wonderful pipe fountain, (located near Baci’s Restaurant) that allows kids to run around and get wet as they make up their own fun games with other kids.

When I go, I find my kids get really excited, they start laughing, they have fun, and they are worn out by the time they get home!

Taking your kids to the pipe fountain in Hampton at the Peninsula Town Center is a great option because it:

  • Gives you and your kids some fresh air
  • Allows them to play in the water without the danger of drowning
  • Allows you to have some time to “Me” time as you watch your kids run around in the water
  • Makes the day go faster
  • Will help your attitude so you will be prepared to set the atmosphere for your husband when he gets home because you’ve found something for the kids to do for that day

Even if you’re not in the Hampton Roads, VA area, you probably have a town center near you or something similar to it.

Do something different from the traditional summer activities. It could bring a smile to your kids, your husband, and you as well.

Got Wipes? The Stomach Flu, The Weekend, and High Fevers All Rolled Up Into One!

photo 1Vomit, diarrhea, and high fever.

That was the topic of conversation a few weeks ago in my household when both of my sons got hit with a stomach bug!

Their symptoms were oh so similar to the stomach flu I struggled with back in March which included nausea, diarrhea, weakness, and just plain misery.

I felt out of control. I couldn’t rest properly because I was constantly in the bathroom.

I wonder if my sons felt the way I did. Needless to say they had me and their daddy as safety nets. If nothing else we could assure them that they would eventually feel better.

For the first few hours, after their vomiting and diarrhea episodes, I started them I started them both off with a clear liquid diet. This included drinks such as Sprite and various flavors of a popular sports drink to restore electrolytes lost. (BTW, since I don’t allow them to drink soda on a daily basis, they loved the fact that mommy let them drink it!)

Also, I gave them some soup. It wasn’t homemade chicken noodle soup, but it was filled with love.

But while I couldn’t stop my boys from throwing up and staying on the toilet for minutes at a time, I could control the spread of germs with Lysol disinfectant wipes. I love this product!

These products have helped to save us from an array of germs and additional sicknesses.

For one, their inexpensive so they’re affordable to the average person because they won’t break your budget. Plus, they often have coupons in the Sunday newspaper, so that allows for additional savings. They smell good, so they can take away the stench of a bathroom filled with throw up and diarrhea. Not only that, they can tone down the nasty odor of that proverbial “bathroom smell.” You know what I mean!

I don’t have OCD, (obsessive compulsive disorder), when it comes to being clean, but I do like my space and I don’t like germs. Not only this, I’m a parent who takes my role very seriously. I know how carefree kids are, (and they should be), but I also know how susceptible they are to spreading and collecting germs in and around the home.

Unfortunately, there are a lot of adults who don’t use good hygiene practices, and they spread germs just as much as children do. For this reason, I try to keep germs under control everywhere I go.  I also travel with them. Often, when I go to a restaurant, the library, or even a hotel, I’m careful to wipe off the tables and surfaces before I use them. They’re convenient and it only takes seconds to use.

They’re user-friendly, so they save a ton of time when I need to quickly clean a surface or surface clean before company comes to the house. Also, Lysol disinfectant wipes stop me from going to the cabinet, putting on my cleaning gloves and using the spray bottle.

Last, but not least, they actually work! They kills approximately 99.9% of the germs so it could cut down on the spread of germs.

With all of these benefits, who wouldn’t want to try these fabulous wipes?

On a scale of 1-10, I give these wipes a 9 for effectiveness, time efficiency, and affordability.

I recommend using Lysol wipes if you want to stop the spread of germs and keep your space clean both inside and outside of your home.

Start today by getting your own Lysol wipes. Choose your pick below:

Easy 4th of July Recipes…No Restaurants Included!

4th of July Recipe IdeasI especially love this time of year because I can dig into my 4th of July recipes for some added inspiration.

The summertime offers an abundance of fresh fruit and vegetables to grill and eat all season.  During this time we grill almost EVERYTHING!!

I’ve never had many issues with eating fruits and vegetables so I often look forward to it.  And this works for me because I’ve never met a fruit that I didn’t like, and to my knowledge, the only vegetables I don’t like are peas and okra.  YUCK!!

I love cooking, but I’m absolutely thrilled when my husband gets on the grill and transforms himself in to “the grill master.”  I think our marriage grows even stronger during the summer months because we spend so much time talking and reconnecting.

Grilling is serious business you know!! In fact we probably could have written the act of grilling into our marriage vows.

We love to eat so we have everything from grilled vegetables, to grilled shrimp, grilled salmon, barbeque chicken, and anything else we can find.  And corn tastes especially delicious when grilled.

With all of these options, who needs boring food at those expensive restaurants when you can fire up your grill at home?

Since I do a lot of research on the Internet for my meals, I’d like to share one I recently found on the Food Network.

I can’t wait to make this dish again. It will wow your guests and whet their appetites for more, so make sure you’ve got your grill and food ready to go!

Marriage Vows – They Did Not Include Cooking…Or Did They?

SONY DSCSaturday December 18, 1999 marked one of the most important decisions of my life.

I married Dexter Godfrey!

I made marriage vows to love, honor and cherish him. But I didn’t commit to cooking good food! Or at least I didn’t think I did.

Often I share a lot of marriage tips with my readers on marriage communication, sex, money, overcoming pornography, and much more. But when it comes to cooking food like bbq chicken, or finding good steak recipes, for instance, I call my mother. She’s a great cook. In fact this is one of the qualities I admire about my mother.

The unfortunate thing is that I did not inherit that cooking ability from her. But my husband loves to eat!

I understand I should work on this area of weakness, but I make a lot of excuses for not doing it.

The thing is I really want to become a good cook who makes healthy food instead of visiting restaurants and getting fast food. With this in mind, I need your help.

Tell me your best recipe. Is it easy to cook? How did you learn to cook? Who does most of the cooking in your family: you or your husband?

You can really help me and my husband out by sharing your thoughts. Sharing may encourage me to cook more.
